As you all begin to understand my style you will learn that I generally strive to be succinct. It keeps a thought focused. There are two decriptions given of the same event of marriage given by Jesus in Matt 19: 1) "Leave and cleave" and as alreaqdy pointed out in the original Greek the word cleave ...

Re: One Flesh does NOT say ANYTHING about Monogamy.

I thought that was my point. If indeed all things on the list for qualification to office of deacon (or elder) are IDEALS of behavior, then they would in fact be found illustrated as such elsewhere in scripture, may I ask you where it is found that Monogamy is upheld as an Ideal? I will be clearer....

Re: Polygyny: Can a man Scripturally have multiple wives?

Some items on the list consitute blameless behavior, it is true, but some are simply items on the list and are not equated with righteousness, they're simply conditions to be satisfied by the prospective office holder. Jerusalem, Judaea and Samaria represent the Israelites while the uttermost parts of the earth represent the Gentile nations. I'm not sure why He mentions it three times. It is God and not necessarily man that classifies people. You've stated the idea in the first sentence twice now and are ignoring...

The Samaritans were catergorized among the Israelites as seen in Acts 1:8 - Jersusalem, Judaea, Samaria "then" the rest of the (Gentile) world. Acts 1:8 reads fully: 8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Jude...

Re: Cornelius

1. Show me just one passage where a pure Gentile is ever said to have received the Holy Spirit after he was water baptized in the book of Acts. I'm lost in the whole emphasis that is being attempted with "pure Gentile" in light of scripture Acts 10:34 34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In tr...

It is written in John 20:30-31 30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. Since the Bible is a ...
