Christianity is an innately selfish decision

Becoming a Christian is a selfish decision, all it does is allow one to blame the troubles of their life on God, who - just so you know - doesn't exist. Jesus was real but not in the sense that you believe, and he was a BLACK MAN. Christianity was invented to control people, to scare them into behaving themselves. If God is so incredible then why do people have to acknowledge him in order for him to help them - he should just help them anyway. And your not supposed to be trying to convert people anyway, taking away their free choice is a sin in itself. Religion causes war, and suffering, and allows dome people to mask horrific acts like child molestation. It takes away peoples reason to be moral, because they can just do horrid things and then be forgiven (if Hitler had decided to become Christian after the holocaust but well before his death (and really dedicated his life to it and regretted what he had done) he would have been forgiven and gone to heaven, things like that are UNFORGIVABLE ACTS, religion is an excuse to be evil. Plus Christianity assumes that the universe revolves around humans - that God is concerned with such flawed beings (why would he bother) - that animals were put here for people to use at their will, and as far as I'm concerned that is a completely selfish and ignorant view of the world - who says that humans are so important?!? We aren't. Christians are ignorant people who are looking for a reason to live, but their isn't one, all that we can do is act morally and live our lives in the best way we can, treating humans and animals humanely, and try to enjoy our live because we only get one and their is nothing after death, but I am happy with that. I would rather spend all eternity in hell than buy into some stupid religion that I disagree with anyway - whether its real or not, at least the weather will always be good in hell. Thank you for your time.

Christianity is an innately selfish decision

Thanks for stopping by our web-site and sharing your opinion. If you have a question or would like to discuss something, please let me know. We are always happy to talk about spiritual things (or the lack thereof, for atheists).

Even thought you did not seek answers or feedback, as far as I can tell, I would like to clarify a few misunderstandings of the true God, as revealed in the Bible
Becoming a Christian is a selfish decision, all it does is allow one to blame the troubles of their life on God
(BTW, the Bible passages that I reference are not included as authoritative. I recognize that you do not recognize the Bible as inspired by God. They are included for reference, in case you ever would like to see for yourself the source of what the other side thinks.)

Admittedly, God does appeal to man's carnal nature through warnings of hell and the blessings of heaven (Matthew 5:29-30; Acts 2:37-38). This is the only motivation that can reach one who is not spiritually minded. However, Christianity is primarily based on love. This is the reason for Jesus' sacrifice on the cross (John 3:16; Romans 5:6-8). It is the primary, identifying attribute of God (I John 4:8-10, 16). And, it is the ultimate virtue to be adopted by all Christians, who are called to be loving just as God has been loving to all (I Corinthians 13:1-8; II Peter 1:3-7; I John 4:7-11). As the Christian matures, he or she moves away from fear and carnal motivators and moves toward love as the primary driver for all things (I John 4:18). ... Furthermore, man's troubles are his own fault, not God's. We sinned, not God (Romans 5:12; 6:23).
God, who - just so you know - doesn't exist. ...
If you would like to discuss this supposition, please let me know. I would be happy to discuss the evidences and arguments for the existence of God. However, until then, please realize that your assertion is just as valid as mine, and they are both therefore worthless toward us enjoying a profitable discussion.
If God is so incredible then why do people have to acknowledge him in order for him to help them - he should just help them anyway.
God does "help them anyway". We all breathe the air, enjoy the sunshine, and drink in the rain, whether we are believers or unbelievers (Matthew 5:45). Jesus admonished Christians to reflect this same love and generosity upon all, just as our Father has demonstrated (Matthew 5:44-48).

However, the spiritual blessings are a choice, because they involve the transformation of our character and require some sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2; II Corinthians 3:18). This choice and its blessings are not something that God would thrust upon us, because He values our free will and desires a voluntary sacrifice (II Corinthians 9:7; Philemon 1:12-14; Psalm 110:3). Would you like God to force you to be a Christian, so you can enjoy His spiritual blessings? I think not...
And your not supposed to be trying to convert people anyway, taking away their free choice is a sin in itself.
True conversion is accomplished through a persuasive message, the gospel (Romans 1:16). This message may touch us and persuade us in harmony with our will (Acts 2:36-41). All other means (terror, force, violence, lust, etc.) should not be employed. Even a message that is rooted in man's sophistry is to be avoided (I Corinthians 1:1-5). We are not permitted to "dress up", "water down", or alter the message in any way, even if it seems better to us (Galatians 1:6-8). Therefore, we are not taking away men's free-will. We are appealing to it!
Religion causes war, and suffering, and allows dome people to mask horrific acts like child molestation.
So, if I could identify an atheistic government that murdered thousands of religious people to eliminate all religion, would that not condemn atheism by the same argument?
It takes away peoples reason to be moral, because they can just do horrid things and then be forgiven (if Hitler had decided to become Christian after the holocaust but well before his death (and really dedicated his life to it and regretted what he had done) he would have been forgiven and gone to heaven, things like that are UNFORGIVABLE ACTS, religion is an excuse to be evil.
First, yes, if Hitler had truly repented, then he too could have been forgiven. In fact, God made a point of demonstrating his mercy through Paul, who had persecuted and murdered Christians, prior to his conversion (I Timothy 1:12-16; Acts 26:9-11).

Second, Paul received mercy because of his ignorance (I Timothy 1:13). Your supposition about Hitler is a **BIG "IF"**! It is inconceivable that he would truly repent, after how he must have hardened his heart to perform his unspeakable wickedness.

Third, God will not be mocked (Galatians 6:7). People cannot "play" God by deliberately sinning today while planning to repent tomorrow. Sin hardens our heart and makes it harder to repent with every passing choice (Hebrews 3:13). People who insist on fooling themselves into thinking that they can outwit the Being who created them and all things, will slip up suddenly and decisively to their destruction (Psalm 96:1-11; Proverbs 6:12-15; 28:18; 29:1; Ecclesiastes 9:11-12).
Plus Christianity assumes that the universe revolves around humans - that God is concerned with such flawed beings (why would he bother)
Admittedly, the writers of the Bible also pondered this question (Psalm 8:1-4). However, they also answered it. God is concerned with humans because He made us in His image and He loves us (Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:16). He does not want us to be lost and destroyed (II Peter 3:9; Ezekiel 18:23, 32).
that is a completely selfish and ignorant view of the world - who says that humans are so important?!?
God does. When He gave Jesus to the cross to redeem us, He demonstrated His love for us and an infinitely high value for mankind (Romans 8:31-39).
Christians are ignorant people who are looking for a reason to live, but their isn't one, all that we can do is act morally and live our lives in the best way we can, treating humans and animals humanely, and try to enjoy our live because we only get one and their is nothing after death, but I am happy with that.
Why? The animal in you fights to live. The dying spirit in you speaks of morals, good ("best"), and "humane" behavior, but yet your philosophy offers no justification for your obvious spiritual transcendence above the animals. Again, I ask, why? Your words are undeniable proof to a spiritual Source beyond what we see... Christians are not ignorant. They merely seek consistency and are willing to give up everything to know the truth - even their pride.
I would rather spend all eternity in hell than buy into some stupid religion that I disagree with anyway - whether its real or not, at least the weather will always be good in hell.
You do not know what you are saying. I pray God grants you time to learn otherwise. ... True Christianity is logical, ordered, and sensible. Do not be deceived by the masses who are gods unto themselves, quoting themselves, speaking by themselves, and justifying themselves, yet, they always wear the name of Christ, while neither following Him, quoting Him, referencing Him, or are justified by Him. Do not let hypocrites keep you from the truth.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

May God help us to have a sincere love of truth,
