Help! I am addicted to pornography.

Post by email » Thu Apr 23, 2009 3:49 pm

I have been involved with adulterous acts (have confessed the one act to my wife and family and a Pastor) for a couple of times and have repented of it deeply. Lately, I accidentaly entered a web of pornography and have been into it for a couple of times. I have been repenting of it but still the drive is so strong that I am always tempted to it. Please help me and pray for me. I hate it! I detest it! How can I be so unfaithful to my wife, my family and Church, as I am a Pastor.

I appreciate your willingness to confess and repent of your sinful activity. The Bible does teach we are to flee sexual immorality (I Corinthians 6:18). Even though we may detest something, the devil will use all his power to try to involve us in those activities. Pornography is a powerful habit and one that is especially hard to break. I have known some otherwise very good men who have been caught up in going to the web sites or reading the magazines, or even going to the peep shows.

You must determine not to sin against God, your wife and your own body. It may take some drastic action such as turning off your computer, or canceling your Internet service. If it takes that it will be worth it. You say you have talked to another pastor. I suggest that you search out a strong Christian man and share your problems with him and ask for his help. This kind of contact should be helpful to you in overcoming this sin. Of course, a life of daily Bible reading and prayer is always the best answer for any problem we face in life.

I will remember you in my prayers as you have requested.
