Judgement day - fear, insecurity, depression, and assurance

I am so confused about Judgement day. The Bible says we are forgiven if we ask in earnest truly meaning it from out heart & soul & in his HOLY name & our sins are cast as far from the East is to the West...so why do we still have to be judged? Please help me figure this out as I am so very upset & dwelling on this matter. I love God. I believe in God...but I fear that I will never be good enough & though I know he forgives me I can't seem to forgive myself & when I give things to him I can't stop taking them back..
I am bi-polar & have severe depression & I know that plays a big part in this but I have got to have some type of closure, assurance, something so that I can live in peace till this world is no more.
Please help me to understand this..

Thanks for the excellent question. I am sorry to learn that this question has become a source of doubt and anxiety. God does not want us to live in uncertainty, so He has provided means by which we may "know" that we are saved, if we do the simple things He has asked. Please read these two articles:

http://www.insearchoftruth.org/articles/forgives.html

I believe these will answer many of your concerns. After reading them, if you still have questions or concerns, by all means, please send them to me.

However, you mentioned a few other items that those articles do not cover:

We do have an article about the last day, the Judgment Day:

http://www.insearchoftruth.org/articles/judgement.html

Which may help too, but the key to Judgment Day is to realize it is more of a "Sentence Issuing Day". Once we die, we will almost immediately, empirically (not by faith, but by sight) know our fate, when we arrive at one of two waiting places (Luke 16:19-31). As Christians, we should know it by faith before then (see above articles again). However, our final sentence will not be delivered until that last day. That is when we stand before the throne and give an account to the Judge (Revelation 20:11-15). That is when we will see Him face to face, possibly get to speak ourselves, and then hear Him say, "Enter in" or "Depart".

Also, you will never be "good enough". None of us will ever be good enough. "The wages of sin are death" (Romans 6:23). That is the only thing that we have truly earned. We are ultimately saved by God's grace (Ephesians 2:8; II Timothy 1:9). However, there are requirements to access His grace, like faith (Ephesians 2:8), repentance and baptism (Acts 2:37-38), and not quitting (Hebrews 10:19-39). Have you repented and been baptized "for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:37-38). If you were not baptized for the right reason (i.e., you were baptized to join a church, or when you were an infant without sin, etc.) then you need to be baptized again for the right reason, as other New Testament saints had to be re-baptized (Acts 19:1-5). That could also be playing into your doubts, if you have not settled that issue. We have an article on that too!

What do you mean about, "when I give things to him I can't stop taking them back". Do you mean you give Him your worries, commitments, or changed behaviors, and then change your mind? I would be happy to share a few thoughts, but I am not sure what you meant. Would you elaborate?

Again, please read the 2 articles mentioned at the top. If you still have feedback, concerns, or worries, please don't hesitate to express them.

I pray you find this helpful. May God help us to have a sincere love of the truth,
