Should a confession be made before baptism?

We have had a great string of baptisms lately in our congregation. I have a question pertaining the order of the baptism though. When someone comes forward or requests to be baptized. A confession that they beleive that the Lord is the Son of God is not requested ort made.
They go in the back and change then prceede with the emersion. Nothing is said.
Maybe it is tradition I am hooked on, but would like to have your thoughts as well.
Is there an order or proper way to carry out the baptizism?

Adding to my above question, I have what I believe is the answer.



Confession before baptism:

I have been studying more on this. remember I had asked if a confession should be made before the baptism. I found some scripture that backs it up. It was asked if a mute could confess, well, not orally, but he could in writing or knod when asked if he believed if Jesus Christ was the Son of God. Wouldn't that be a confession before men.

"In order to be a candidate for baptism one must confess Christ before

men. Paul wrote, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;

and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom. 10:10). Jesus

said, “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess

also before my Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 10:32). Though the

confession of which Jesus here spoke is much broader than simply the

confession made before baptism, surely it must include it. The Ethiopian

eunuch was told, “If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he

answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God” (Acts 8:37)."

Amen, sister! If the Eunuch in Acts 8:37 is not an approved account of action, then I don't know what is. As for the confession commanded by Jesus, it is simply that; confessing who Jesus is and your belief in Him and His power to save before your fellow man! What newly convicted believer would not jump at the chance to shout it from the roof top, especially before an assembly of believers? God is good.
