Bill Maher's question

Post by TheTruth210 » Thu Jul 10, 2008 5:02 pm

I saw a trailer for a new movie coming out by Bill Maher that he's calling "Religulous." In it he ask's the question "Why doesn't God just destroy the Devil?" He get's the answer that God will eventually. Then Bill ask "What's taking him so long?" My first inclination was that what is long to humans is not long to God. The Bible tells us that 1,000 yrs is but 1 day to God. Therefore, what is long to us is not long to him. Does anyone else have input on this?

This question has been posed for years. Really when it comes down to the core facts concerning this question, we ask "Is GOD really in control, does He have a plan, is Satan part of His plan?"

I would say YES! When we think about Job, even when we think about the garden did Satan have free reign over that in which GOD made? NO

GOD allows things for His purpose. Think about how it pleased God that His Son should suffer for the world. How is it that this came to be? One way is that Satan entered Judas. This was allowed for the purpose of GOD'S plan.

Honestly we all know that Bill does not have a clue when it comes to truth. Some may struggle with this statement, but we live right now in a time that Satan is bound. (Rev. 20) We live as Christians in GOD'S kingdom, the church is in the kingdom. This means that Christ is KING! This happened becasue GOD planned it this way and Satan was it that plan.

When you look at the larger picture you see that Satan is just a pawn in the over all scheme of redemption. Satan has never made man do that in which man did not want to do! This is a false concept that allows man to blame their disobedience on another being.

When you read the book of Revelation you see those who cried out for justice, many fail to see that GOD is judging mankind this very day and He uses many ways including the minions of opposing forces. Those who cried out have received that judgment according to the book of Revelation!

So why does GOD wait to finish things with Satan? Bill Maher should be thankful he has another day to which he can repent and turn to God in obedience and be forgiven of his sins. But then again what makes us think that he really cares about GOD and what He wants. I consider all the things I use to hear him (Bill) say on that vulger show. By the way I refuse to watch such filth that is not edifying for a christian to even be watching.

Man is not GOD and GOD is not man, who are we to determine what is right before GOD id Bill Maher really believed this he would not even question it, but he does because he does not know the one true GOD of heaven.
...in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power...

I agree with Jeff. Bill Maher falls into the Biblical category of "scoffer":
Peter wrote:... be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? (II Peter 3:2-12)
Bill does not know the answer, because he does not want to know. He scoffs at God, Christ, Christianity, and Christians.

Just because someone in authority does not act when we want and how we want, we should not assume they are incompetent.

Just as Jeffrey said, God has a plan. Part of that plan includes patience, waiting for evil men to repent (recall the parable of the tares, Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43).

God is fully aware of time, but He operates above it. He operates based on people (recall, He is longsuffering) - not the vibrations of a cesium atom. Time itself is immaterial to Him ("with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day").
